In Cygnets the children are continuing to develop their independence. Children have the freedom to carry out activities of their choice while learning to understand there are boundaries and golden rules within the room. Children are encouraged to see to their own personal needs and activities are implemented to help with this such as hand washing activities, dressing up, role play, drinks station and a ‘snuffle’ station.
Children carry out self-registration at together time where they find their name and hang it on the registration wall. They welcome their friends with the ‘Hello’ song and sing about the days of the week. They then have a ‘vote’ as to what they want to do next eg story, songs, musical instruments.
Books are set out around the room relating to areas of learning and children learn about emotions and feelings using puppets and The Colour Monster props. Access to the garden is free-flow where children can explore the outdoor environment, creating potions and mud pies in the mud kitchen or building castles in the sand.
